The Caribbean Industrial Research Institute (CARIRI) proudly announces its receipt of the “Catalyst for Social Impact and Sustainability Award” for its groundbreaking Rubber Crumb Project. The honour was bestowed at the esteemed President’s Awards for Innovation and Service Excellence (Pr.A.I.S.E), underscoring CARIRI’s unwavering dedication to innovation, sustainability, and community impact.

This milestone achievement marks the third major accolade for CARIRI’s Rubber Crumb Project in 2024. Earlier this year, the project was recognized with the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce “Champions of Business Innovation Award” and the American Chamber of Commerce of Trinidad and Tobago “Outstanding OSH & Environment Project Award.”

The Rubber Crumb Project represents CARIRI’s commitment to transforming waste into value, repurposing discarded tires into eco-friendly products that contribute to sustainable practices while addressing environmental challenges. This initiative is a testament to the power of innovative solutions in fostering a greener and more sustainable future.

CARIRI extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Pr.A.I.S.E. Awards and the Inter-American Development Bank for this incredible honor. We also acknowledge the dedication of our remarkable team, the support of our partners, and the encouragement of the wider community, all of whom have been integral to this success.

“This recognition reaffirms our mission to deliver cutting-edge solutions that benefit both people and the planet,” said CARIRI’s Chief Executive Officer, Hans-Erich Schulz. “The Rubber Crumb Project exemplifies how innovation can drive meaningful social and environmental change, and we remain committed to expanding its impact in the years ahead.”
