Occupational Hygiene Services

Current Services:

1. Air-conditioning and ventilation systems inspections.
2. Air-flow measurements through supply and return air vents with the TSI Accubalance Meter and TSI Velocity Meter.
3. Area Sampling for Particulate matter testing (PM_1,2.5,4,7,10) and Total Suspended Particles
4. Area sampling for airborne fibreglass, asbestos and fibre count levels.  Analysis of cartridges sub-contracted to EMSL. N.B.  In cases where remediation works for asbestos are conducted, asbestos sampling is carried out by the Metallurgy Department.
5. Area sampling for particle count levels 0.3, 0.5, 1.0, 5.0 and 10µm.
6. Area sampling for gases such as (sulphur dioxide, nitric oxide, nitrogen dioxide, formaldehyde, oxygen, lower explosive limit (LEL), methane, hydrogen sulphide, total volatile organic compounds (tVOCs), carbon monoxide, hydrogen cyanide, chlorine, and ammonia).
7. Area sampling for temperature, relative humidity and dew point temperatures.
8. Heat Stress Assessments
9. Light Assessments.
10. Noise Assessments (dosimetry and indoor monitoring only).
11. Respirable Dust Exposure
12. Personal exposure sampling to any gas/dust that can be measured using an approved National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Method.  Chemical analysis of samples is subcontracted to a foreign laboratory
