The Caribbean Industrial Research Institute (CARIRI) has formalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with I-NOVA Technopole of Guadeloupe in 2025, marking a significant milestone in strengthening regional collaboration across the Caribbean and French overseas territories. The signing represents a shared commitment to advancing innovation, technology and entrepreneurship through structured cooperation, capacity building and knowledge exchange.

The partnership establishes a framework for closer collaboration in innovation and entrepreneurship development, with a particular focus on supporting start-ups, innovators and small and medium-sized enterprises. CARIRI and I-NOVA Technopole will work together to create opportunities that enhance access to technical expertise, mentorship, funding networks and international markets.

A key component of the MOU is the development and delivery of joint accelerator and incubator programmes. These initiatives are designed to nurture early-stage and growth-oriented ventures, facilitate cross-border collaboration and strengthen innovation ecosystems within the Caribbean and French territories by sharing best practices and resources.

The agreement also prioritises digital transformation and technological advancement, recognising the critical role of emerging technologies in driving competitiveness and resilience. Through collaborative research and development initiatives, both institutions aim to address regional challenges, promote applied research and support the commercialisation of innovative solutions tailored to the needs of Caribbean economies.

Sustainable and green innovation forms another central pillar of the partnership. CARIRI and I-NOVA Technopole will explore opportunities to advance environmentally responsible technologies and practices, supporting climate resilience, sustainable industrial development and the transition to greener economies across the region.

Commenting on the partnership, CARIRI’s Chief Executive Officer, Hans-Erich Schulz, said,
“this MOU represents a strategic step toward deeper regional integration in innovation and technology. By partnering with I-NOVA Technopole, CARIRI is expanding opportunities for capacity building, knowledge sharing and sustainable innovation that will benefit entrepreneurs and institutions across the Caribbean and French territories.”

The collaboration is expected to strengthen regional innovation networks and contribute to long-term, inclusive economic growth.
