In today’s fast-changing global economy, innovation is the cornerstone of economic growth, competitiveness and sustainable development. For Trinidad and Tobago to unlock its full potential, stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors is essential.

This one-day conference will serve as a catalyst for building these vital linkages. Hosted under Component 3 of the project “Shaping the Future of Innovation”, this event aims to strengthen our national innovation ecosystem by bringing together government officials, business leaders, innovators and academics to create a shared vision for growth.

With the country ranked 105 out of 190 in the World Bank Group’s 2020 Ease of Doing Business Report and facing challenges such as bureaucracy, low productivity and regulatory inefficiencies, the need for partnership-driven reform is urgent. This Conference will explore practical, actionable strategies to overcome these barriers, foster innovation and position Trinidad and Tobago as a regional hub for innovation-led business growth.

This conference directly supports Component Three (3) of the Shaping the Future of Innovation programme, which focuses on fostering strategic partnerships and institutional alignment to accelerate innovation in Trinidad and Tobago. By convening stakeholders from government, industry, academia and civil society, the event will serve as a critical platform for identifying synergies, breaking down silos and aligning national priorities with private sector capabilities. The conversations and collaborations initiated at this forum will contribute to the development of a more cohesive and coordinated innovation ecosystem, one that is capable of driving sustainable development and economic transformation.

The Shaping the Future of Innovation project is a national initiative aimed at building a robust, inclusive, and sustainable innovation ecosystem through strategic partnerships, capacity building, and policy alignment. The Shaping the Future of Innovation Project is a partnership between the Government of Trinidad and Tobago through the Ministry of Planning, Economic Affairs and Development, the European Union in Trinidad and Tobago and IDB Lab, in collaboration with CARIRI – The Caribbean Industrial Research Institute as the project implementing partner. The project is financed by the European Union and the IDB LAB.
