The Caribbean Industrial Research Institute (CARIRI) is once again proud to announce its collaboration with Republic Bank Limited under the Power to Make a Difference Programme, along with bmobile and Guardian Media Limited in offering an unparalleled opportunity for Trinidad and Tobago’s youth to immerse themselves in the world of technology, innovation, and sustainability.
The cornerstone of this collaboration is the Innovation Nation Training Programme, a unique opportunity designed to empower 3,500 students between the ages of 10 to 18 years old across Trinidad and Tobago. Through a virtual and self-paced platform, students will have the flexibility to embark on a transformative journey at their own pace, from the comfort of their homes, over the July/August vacation period. There is no cost attached to this programme, but it is on a first come, first serve basis.
With three distinct tracks to choose from, students can tailor their learning experience to suit their interests and aspirations. The tracks include:
- Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM)
- Innovation and Entrepreneurship
- Climate Action
Under the expert guidance of the facilitators at CARIRI, participants will delve into various disciplines, including Computer Science, Engineering, Innovation, Business Development and Climate Action/Sustainable Energy. The programme adopts a multi-disciplinary micro-learning approach, providing students with a holistic understanding of emerging concepts from an industry standpoint.
Chief Executive Officer of CARIRI, Hans-Erich Schulz stated “as we embark on this year’s journey of Innovation Nation 2024, CARIRI is proud to lead the charge in equipping Trinidad and Tobago’s youth with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in an ever-evolving world. Through this collaborative effort with Republic Bank Limited, bmobile and Guardian Media, we are not only fostering innovation and entrepreneurship but also nurturing a generation of changemakers ready to tackle the pressing challenges of tomorrow.” Innovation Nation 2024 aims to prepare the next generation with the knowledge and skills necessary to tackle pressing global challenges, such as climate change, while fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.
Moreover, students who successfully complete their chosen tracks will have the opportunity to showcase their newfound skills and compete in the prestigious PowerUp! Competition. This competition not only allows participants to apply their knowledge but also offers them the chance to win lucrative cash prizes in August.
“Together, let’s empower our youths to become the leaders and innovators of tomorrow. Spaces are filling up quickly as admission is on a first-come, first-served basis so we encourage our educators, parents, and guardians to share this incredible opportunity with the children under their care” expressed Senior ICT Business Coordinator, Lynette Akong.
