He holds a B.Sc. Chemistry/Zoology from the University of the West Indies, and certificates in Graphite Furnace AAS Techniques, Hydrocarbon Chromatographic Techniques, Dispersion Modelling and the Use of EPA Source Complex Short-Term v.3, and Digital Imaging Technologies.

In performing chemical analyses, he is experienced in using instruments such as the Bomb Calorimeter, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, Liquid and Gas Chromatographs, U.V./Visible Spectrophotometer, Graphite Furnace and Ion Chromatograph.
