The Caribbean Industrial Research Institute (CARIRI) has engaged the services of an Expert from the Danish Technological Institute (DTI) to undertake a short term consultancy assignment aimed at assisting the Institute in its capacity building efforts in the area of Energy Efficiency Services. This initiative forms part of CARIRI's thrust to expand its service base to meet public and private sector demands for new and emerging technology-based services, and its recognition of the critical importance of sustainable energy to national economic development, consistent with action being taken at the international level to combat climate change and its impacts.

The engagement of the Expert seeks to build on the preliminary work undertaken by the Institute in the area, which involves the conduct of a research study to gauge needs/demand by companies for sustainable energy services. The Consultant, Søren Draborg, has extensive experience in energy management (ISO50001), energy audits (ISO50002), process technology consultancy and energy efficient design work in the public and private sectors. Mr. Draborg has been Project Manager of several energy audit exercises, energy management projects and other energy efficiency related projects in Denmark and abroad. His work covers several industrial sectors, including oil refineries, foundries, chemicals, as well as food and paper processing in Denmark, Africa, Central and Eastern Europe, South East Asia and Russia.

Mr. Draborg will be visiting Trinidad over the period July 10th. - 21st., 2017 to undertake the consultancy assignment at CARIRI. In this regard, we wish to afford Mr. Draborg the opportunity to visit select companies to meet the manufacturers and gain a first hand appreciation of the issues pertaining to Energy Efficiency, viz. status of adoption of Energy Efficiency measures; achievements to date, where applicable; problems/challenges encountered; and the manufacturers' perspectives of the way forward for widespread adoption of Energy Efficiency in the manufacturing/ industrial sector.
