CARIRI’s Energy and Natural Resource Usage Assessment Service

As part of its thrust to expand its service base to meet public and private sector demands for new and emerging technology-based services, and cognizant of the increased focus on sustainable energy locally, consistent with action being taken at the international level to combat climate change and its impacts, CARIRI has taken the initiative to implement a Sustainable Energy Programme and has been actively pursuing efforts to build capacity to meet the demand for services in the area of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency.

In July 2017, CARIRI had engaged the services of a Consultant from the Danish Technological Institute (DTI) to undertake a short term consultancy assignment involving assisting the Sustainable Energy Unit (SEY) in the conduct of an in-depth assessment of the demand for energy efficiency services and advising on available technologies/methodologies to most cost effectively address the identified needs, as well as the undertaking of capacity building of the SEY.

The DTI Consultant, Mr. Soren Draborg, Mr. Draborg has extensive experience in energy management (ISO 50001), energy audits (ISO 50002), process technology consultancy and energy efficient design work in the public and private sectors. He served as Project Manager of several energy audit exercises, energy management projects and other energy efficiency related projects in Denmark and abroad. His work covers several industrial sectors, including oil refineries, foundries, chemicals, as well as food and paper processing in Denmark, Africa, Central and Eastern Europe, South East Asia and Russia.

Mr. Draborg will again be visiting Trinidad, over the period November 20th - December 8th, 2017, to undertake a second phase of consultancy support to CARIRI. This would involve, in collaboration with staff members of CARIRI's SEY Programme, the conduct of three full energy and natural resource usage assessments (energy audits). In this context, we are extending an offer to the manufacturing sector, on a first come, first served basis, to have an energy efficiency review conducted at their facility at a discounted price.

Companies interested in this opportunity can benefit from the following:

  • Identification of  energy and natural resource usage inefficiencies
  • Optimization of process equipment operational efficiency
  • Reduction of  energy usage and energy costs
  • Recommend solutions for improving the energy efficiency and natural resource usage
